1 Skirt, 3 Looks

One of the most important aspects to being a glam girl is having a functional closet – this means having key pieces that can be worn in a variety of different ways to achieve different looks.
I want to talk about this amazing skirt I bought recently, and why it has become a staple in my closet:

  • It’s black, a.k.a. the most universal color
  • It’s on trend right now – the buttons going down the front. Fun and flirty
  • It’s conservative enough to wear to work, but also sexy enough to wear for a night out
  • It only costs $13! Snag it from Forever 21 while it lasts

Below are three looks I was able to achieve with this staple piece: a casual day-time look, an out-on-the-town look, and an edgier look for when you’re feeling like rockin’ some boots and pigtails.

Look 1: Casual Day-Time

For this casual look, I pulled my hair in a top-knot and tied up an old printed tank. For jewelry, I’m wearing a simple gold cuff set. The sandals are two-toned and super comfy.

This look is easy and can be worn to brunch, to the mall or for a day-time hangout sesh.

Top: Forever 21 (Similar 1 $9, Similar 2 $15)
Cuff Set: Forever 21 (Similar $6)
Sandals: Call it Spring (Similar $18 sale)
Skirt: Forever 21

Look 2: Out-on-the-Town

This look is definitely more glam than look 1. Here, I am wearing a crisp white crop with an interesting silhouette. I paired the skirt with some chunky black heels and pulled my hair down in loose waves to make the look more formal.

I added a winged eyeliner, red lips, and a statement red purse to complete the look.

Top: Tobi (Similar $34)
Cuff Set: Forever 21 (Similar $6)
Heels: Target sale $26
Skirt: Forever 21 $13
Purse: Boutique (Similar 1 $70, Similar 2 $62)
Lipstick: Kylie Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Mary Jo K $17

Look 3: Edgy and Fun

I live for these kinds of looks. One: these boots were one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. And two: I’ll literally use any excuse to dress like a Spice Girl.

The crop top is a deep, wine color and has a very feminine cut. The sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder sleeves add a princess vibe to this otherwise unconventional look.

Add some low, messy pigtails and a deep plum lip, and you’re good to go. I see this being a concert look, or out to the bars if you’re feeling daring.

Cuff Set: Forever 21 (Similar $6)
Boots: Steve Madden (Similar sale $75)
