5 Health and Beauty Products You Should Swap Out This Spring

It’s April 5th! We are well into spring, the season of de-cluttering and detoxifying your your space. If you haven’t started your spring cleaning, this weekend is the perfect time to put on those rubber gloves and get down and dirty – but actually.

I recently discovered an app through the recommendation of my good friend and fellow blogger, Frances Nicole, aka My Style Snapshot. The app is called Think Dirty, and while it sounds a little sketchy, it’s actually become one of the most useful tools in my everyday quest to become the happiest, healthiest version of myself.

“Think Dirty app is the easiest way to learn about the potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products. Just scan the product barcode and Think Dirty will give you easy-to-understand info on the product, its ingredients, and shop cleaner options!” – Courtesy of Think Dirty’s official website.

After using the app, I found that many of my everyday bath products, and even products I consumed, are full of harmful chemicals. I have slowly but surely began switching out these products for cleaner ones. Not only has this allowed me to throw out unnecessary clutter from my bathroom vanity, but it’s a decision I can feel honest and proud about.

Below are some clean products you can swap out right away to be on your way to healthier living:

1. Instead of Drying Body Soaps… use Green Goo’s Zesty Lemongrass Invigorating Bar

The long-lasting bath bar is made up of a unique formulation of organic oils and lemongrass. It acts as a skin-balancing tonic, which cleanses and moisturizes the skin. Plus, it smells great! If lemongrass isn’t your thing, the brand has four other scents to choose from. The bars sell for $5.95.

2. Instead of your Aluminum-filled Deodorants… Choose Green Goo’s Lavender & Thyme Deodorant

For deodorant, I use Green Goo’s natural, high performance deodorant in Lavender and Thyme. Not only do Green Goo’s deodorants leave you smelling great, but they are all aluminum-free and propylene glycol-free. Infused with Calendula flowers offering additional anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties, they are gentle on your skin while the power of aluminum-free baking soda and arrowroot keep you fresh all day long. Also – they actually work! These also come in two sizes: Regular Stick ($7.95) and Travel Stick ($5.95).

3. Instead of your Drugstore Facial Mask… Choose WODA’s Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask

WODA’s newly launched Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask costs $58 and is available at wodaskincare.com. The mask is made with American gold and formulated to brighten, plump and deeply hydrate the skin and prevent premature aging. Precious gold works as a powerful antioxidant to fight signs of aging giving the skin opulence glow. Blended with a large dose of vitamin C, this mask lightens hyperpigmentation revealing luminous revitalized complexion with each use. WODA products have never been tested on animals and, for every product sold, the company plants a tree via their donations to One Tree Planted.

4. Instead of your Anti-Dandruff Shampoo… Choose Canviiy’s ScalpBliss

Canviiy’s founder created the ScalpBliss serum after trying over-the-counter serums that didn’t get the job done. With ingredients such as alcohol and mineral oil, other serums are unable to meet their performance claims. Canviiy’s serum includes key ingredients such as peppermint oil, Manuka honey and aloe to soothe scalps for longer periods of time, instantly. The mini tube retails for only $7.99, and the full sized serum retails for $19.99.

5. Instead of Bottled Water… Choose Boxed Water

Sure, it might not be something you find in your bathroom vanity, but it’s something you consume every day. Boxed water is better because they are changing the way water is packaged, shipped, sold and enjoyed. The simple act of choosing Boxed Water is a statement that sustainability matters. An 8-pack (with a cool T Shirt) retails for $32.
