Fellow makeup lovers: if you’re anything like me, you’re constantly trying to achieve the perfect complexion. While high-end products can seem like the only way to come close to a filter-worthy face, I recently came across a bargain line of products that help neutralize and erase skin redness, dark circles, and even discoloration.
Hard Candy, sold exclusively at Walmart, has released a line of color correcting primers, cremes and sticks to help even out skin tone before makeup application. I recently tested out the brand’s green color correct primer, lavender color correct expert stick and yellow color correct expert stick. PS: These bad boys each retail for only $5!
I’ve teamed up with Hard Candy for an exclusive GIVEAWAY. To enter, follow me on Instagram at @Glam_Piece, and tag me in your best selfie with the hashtag #HardCandyBabe. I will randomly choose the winner, who will receive a goody bad including Hard Candy’s Color Correct primer, expert stick, and baked powder. (Note: This contest is now closed.)
See below for photos of me before makeup, but after having applied the Color Correctors.
Now if the Color Corrector doesn’t look painfully obvious on my face, that’s because I had already blended the product out when I took these shots. I used the green primer for my cheeks, which are naturally quite red, and to camouflage some blemishes. I used the yellow color correct stick to mask my dark circles, which are hereditary and have always been troublesome for me to cover up. Although peach or orange Color Correctors are typically used for dark circles, the yellow worked quite well. Last, I used the lavender Color Correct stick to cover up a birthmark on my nose.
Compared to other Color Correctors I have tried in the past, Hard Candy’s products blended very well into my skin, and actually allowed my foundation and concealer to hold better after applying them over. The products are light, blendable and easy to apply.
Voila! Here is my finished face, after applying foundation and under eye concealer over the color corrector. I noticed an immediate difference from my usual day-to-day face routine. Whereas I usually apply concealer for little blemishes and red spots after I apply my foundation, the color corrector eliminated this step in my routine.
